Our Story

In August 1992, the Lord began to lay a burden on the heart of Marie Collins for the needy to have a place to come for help with food and clothing - a place where the gospel of Jesus Christ would be shared. With God’s leading, Marie began "In His Name - A Storehouse For Those In Need" January 12, 1993, at which time the Lord provided a place for the Storehouse to operate on Yadkin Valley Road, in Advance, NC.

The name of the ministry changed to "A Storehouse For Jesus" in May 1994, when the ministry was incorporated. The same year the ministry received its 501(c)3 status.

The ministry outgrew its Advance location and, in September 1995, moved to the old Martin Hardware Building on Depot Street, in Mocksville, NC.

With the increase of clients and the addition of the Medical Ministries, Storehouse outgrew its Depot Street location. In 2003 and 2004, Storehouse purchased 9.76 acres at 675 E. Lexington Rd. (US Highway 64 East) in Mocksville, to build a larger facility. In 2004, construction of a new 27,500 square foot facility began. The ministry moved to its new location in September 2006. The building was paid for in 2008. In 2009, the property Storehouse surrounded became available. The Board decided to purchase this property, making the Storehouse property a solid block of land by providing continuous road frontage on Hwy. 64, as well as increasing the possibilities of future ministries. The new property was paid for in 2011.

Storehouse is a completely volunteer ministry - no one has ever received a salary. We have been blessed to grow from a volunteer staff of 1 the first 2 years, to currently over 589 volunteers, logging over 54,900 hours of service in 2012. More than 140 of these volunteers logged in over 100 hours each. All items and services are given freely at Storehouse - nothing is sold and no one is charged for any service. We are dependent upon God's people for financial donations to operate the ministry.

A Storehouse For Jesus is heavily burdened for those who come through our doors, those who do not know our Lord as Savior, those who are hurting and alone in their struggles. Your support, prayers, labor, financial donations, donations of food, clothing and household items allow us to serve those in need. By all of us working together, we can reach some for Jesus who otherwise might not be reached, sharing the gospel and showing Christ's love.

Client Testimonies

“I am so thankful, and have been so blessed, that the Storehouse For Jesus is in Davie County and I thank the Lord Jesus, my Savior, that He has provided such a wonderful facility and such nice and wonderful and caring people who volunteer their time to help people in need like my wife and myself.”
“I would like to thank the Storehouse For Jesus for everything. If it wasn’t for the Storehouse I would not have food on the table and clothes for my family. When I walk in the door of Storehouse For Jesus all my troubles are gone (and) the love that you feel. They are a wonderful group of people. Just puts a smile on my face. Thank you so so much.”
“I have a full-time job. However, I can’t afford to go to a doctor, dentist, or optometrist. I cannot afford the high blood pressure medication that I need. What I really needed was a friend, and, in Storehouse For Jesus, I have found just that. These caring, loving, and capable people provide me with all of these medial services free-of-charge.
I thank you Storehouse For Jesus and commend you for doing what you do for our community and others. Again, I praise and thank God for all of you.”
“I really appreciate the help you give me and my family. You really don’t understand how much you help my family. I’ve been coming down a lot for food. The staff is God send! From the bottom of my heart and my family’s heart, thank you!”
In my opinion, A Storehouse For Jesus is the most important entity in our community. They are more deserving of any gifts or blessing that can be bestowed on them. I thank A Storehouse For Jesus from the bottom of my heart.”
“Thanks to all the workers at the Storehouse For Jesus. Without them, I don’t know where me and my mother would be. From Pharmacy and Clinic, to even food and clothing. All workers have been a great help to my family. I thank God for the kindness and caring spirit in the Storehouse For Jesus. We thank you and love you all. Keep on doing what you are doing.”

“I want to thank you for helping me the last time I was here. You were here at the right time and were compassionate and understanding with all the things that was

happening in my life. I owe you my life. There is so much I want to tell you, but I can’t say it all. You are worth a million bucks – and all the gold in the world. I wish all the best for you.”
