Storehouse for Jesus

Outreach Ministries

Outreach Ministries Director: Marie Collins

Since 1993, Storehouse has helped missions abroad and at home - wherever the Lord opens a door. Distribution items have been sent to the Appalachian Mountains in several states, disaster relief areas, Alaska, South Dakota, Peru, Liberia, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Ghana, etc.

As part of our Outreach Ministries, we provide consultation and mentoring to existing ministries and to new ministries being established.

In December 1998, we were asked to extend Storehouse to Ghana, West Africa. This request was approved by our Board of Directors, and A Storehouse For Jesus, Ghana was born. We are honored that the Lord opened the door for this ministry to expand to Ghana and praise Him for the work being done there under the leadership of A Storehouse For Jesus, Ghana's Executive Director, Michael Asantey.

Our work in the Native American Outreach Ministries began in June 2003, under the leadership of Gail McCuiston, concentrating mainly on Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations, South Dakota.

We help an organization called Teddy Bears for Peace, providing small, stuffed animals to soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan to give to children.

We help Camp for Kids, an outreach started by Christian Network for the Needy, which pays for underprivileged children to attend a local Christian summer camp.

God has blessed Storehouse abundantly and it is our honor and joy to share the bounty He has given us with missions wherever God opens the door.

Storehouse's Mission Trips to Ghana

  • Mission trips were made, in the Volta and Eastern Regions in Ghana from 1999 - 2003, 2006 - 2010, and another trip is planned for 2011.
  • The mission trips are comprised of a combined mission team with members coming together from North Carolina, Tennessee and Ghana.
  • In the last eight trips, 2,793 Ghanaians made professions of faith, we treated 16,273 medical and surgical patients and dispensed 51,958 medications. Work has been done several years on the Storehouse's Ghana Scholarship Program (GSP), helping students to stay in school, distributing school supplies and improving class room conditions.
  • During the 2007 through 2010 trips, reading glasses were distributed to 2,150 individuals.

Ghana's Little Lambs Shoebox Ministry

The Ghana's Little Lambs Shoebox Ministry started in 2001. New, plastic shoeboxes are sent on shipments with a New Testament, school supplies, hygiene items, underwear and toys for distribution to children in villages, orphanages, schools, and hospitals. All items must be new. We hope to continue this ministry when we have the funding to send additional shipments to Ghana.

How Can You Help Us Work In Ghana?

Please label incoming donations as "Ghana".

Donate new medical supplies, surgical supplies, and medical equipment: Reading glasses with strengths labeled, bandages, gloves, tape, sutures, drapes, blood pressure cuffs, thermometers, and stethoscopes. These items will be taken to Ghana with the mission team.

Donate financially: Many of our Ghana projects, as well as Storehouse, Ghana's projects are on hold due to lack of designated funding for the Ghana ministry. Please contact Marie Collins for more information. .

Donate mission gifts for distribution during mission trips - all of which must be new and light weight: gifts for the Chief; Christian gifts to give to children; small Bibles; hygiene items, votives, bath towels, washcloths, flashlights, pens, etc., to give to the mission team from Ghana, as well as to clinical staff, hospital staff, local pastors, and church lay volunteers. .

Pray daily for the ministry of A Storehouse For Jesus and A Storehouse For Jesus, Ghana as they labor together to share the Gospel and serve the needy. .

From 1999 - 2003, and again in 2008, shipments of Bibles, clothing, shoes, food, books, school supplies, medical equipment, dishes, household items, hygiene items, new cots, etc. were sent to Ghana. The cost to send a 40' container of needed items to Ghana is estimated at $10,000. Due top lack of funds, we have not been able to send a shipment since 2008. Not only do these items help others in practical ways, they also open a door for the Gospel to be shared. It is our desire to send a shipment once a year.

Native American Outreach Ministries

Native American Outreach Ministries Director: Gail McCuistan

Why Do We Go To Rosebud And Pine Ridge Reservations?

  • Pine Ridge Reservation is the poorest area of the entire United States and Todd County on the Rosebud Reservation is the fourth poorest in the country
  • The unemployment rate exceeds 85%
  • Native Americans on reservations have the lowest life expectancy in the US
  • One in three homes is heated only by a wood stove, 44% do not have kitchens and nearly half do not have electricity, water or both
  • 51% of Native American live below the poverty level

Our first trip to South Dakota was June 2003. Our mission on the reservations is to assist and support local pastors and to encourage and strengthen believers, while reaching out to the lost by showing them God's love through building relationships.

The focus of our ministry is on the Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations in South Dakota, however we visit and minister on other reservations, as well.

We support and assist: New Beginnings Christian Coffee Shop/Café on the Rosebud Reservation; Passover Feast in March; Feast of the Nations in November

We help in: sending teams to assist the local pastors and ministries on the reservations; obtaining building materials, clothing, furniture, appliances, etc.

Mission team members are needed for year round mission trips to Rosebud and Pine Ridge Reservations. The trips include distribution of relief items, Bible studies, building teams, evangelism, cooking/serving food for special events, counseling and praying. These trips are generally held during: Spring (Passover Feast); Summer (VBS, Bible Studies, building teams for New Beginnings Building, Evergreen Children's Home, House of Timothy, etc.); November (Feast of the Nations).

We are looking at going to other reservations and extending this outreach ministry, as God leads.
