Information You will Receive with Assignments
- The Little Lambs, Senior Stars or Shepherds sex, age and assigned number Requested items per sponsored individual (as noted above).
- Alternative gifts for clothing and toys may also be listed to give you a greater choice for buying. If you feel a gift is too expensive or inappropriate, please call Marie Collins.
Marie will contact the client and get an alternative request. We are not always aware of specific costs or “details” of items.
Instructions
- Bring the gifts unwrapped. Parents of sponsored children feel more a part of the giving when they are able to see the items and wrap the gifts themselves for their children. You may
include wrapping paper, tape and ribbon if you choose, however, it is not required.
- You may include additional items, including stocking stuffers, with your gifts, if you choose, but again, this is not requested. We get asked every year if the extra items that are
purchased for a specific child are actually given to that child? The answer is YES! We do try to keep giving fairly comparable between members of the same family, and you may wish to
consider sponsoring another child due to the great need for sponsors.
- Please put each sponsored person’s gifts in individual clear plastic garbage bags. Attach a tag on each bag with the assigned number, age and sex of the sponsored individual, in
bold lettering, making sure the tag is securely attached to each bag. If you have more than one bag per person, please mark each bag as “1 of 2”,” 2 of 2,” etc. We have clear
plastic bags and large printed Christmas tags at Storehouse available for you to use, free-of-charge. If it is not convenient for you to pick up the tags at Storehouse, please use a
large card and securely attach it to the bag.
- If you would like to include a Bible, tract and/or your church’s Christmas flyer in the bags with your gifts, please feel free to do so!
Additional Ways to Sponsor
- Sponsor “Toy Store” children. These are children whose parents are receiving toys elsewhere and only require 2 new articles of clothing.
- Purchase fill-in gifts of new clothing and toys – especially needed are gifts for teenagers!
- Donate financially to help us purchase needed gifts for children and seniors who were not sponsored. Please specify on your check or donation “Special Projects.”
- Be a last-minute sponsor, taking children who are signed up late (usually new clients) or whom we learn of at the last minute (usually requests from schools, churches, etc). We do
our best to make sure all children in Davie County are provided for.
- Volunteer to help with incoming gifts, distribution and clean-up. Please contact Cynthia Baldwin, Christmas Distribution Coordinator, at (336) 909-1026 if you wish to help. Volunteers are especially needed for Christmas check-in, December 4th - 7th.
Last year, through the gifts of sponsors like you, we provided Christmas gifts for 1,123 children, 101 seniors and 62 special need adults, in addition to Christmas dinners for 85 senior families.
THANK YOU FOR CARING AND FOR YOUR SUPPORT! HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS! MAY GOD BLESS YOU
